I have long been interested in the places off the beaten path, the way out west, if you will. I think it’s amazing that Las Vegas or the Coast of california have grown to be so populated, such signifigant geography in the cultural landscape of America and the larger world. Thanks to a relocation for the CityCenter project I have had an opportunity to explore the west again, and I am struck by how it’s rapid changes are a kind of beacon for what is happening in the global context. Cultural diversity, real estate booms, sprawl, good and bad architecture, loss of culture, pop culture.

I hope to write a book this year based in my investigations into why and what next for the American Southwest. It’s really all about sustainable cultures and environment, but we shall see. Please leave comments.
